BROKEN BOW – The sixth annual Food 4 Youth campaign organized by Adams Land & Cattle was a great success. Over $7,500 and 4,900 items were donated to Custer County backpack programs, which provide food and other needed items to be sent home with students. The challenge, held September 9 through September 25, was open to area businesses, schools, and civic organizations.

In all, 33 Custer County businesses and organizations participated, collecting 4,950 snacks and meals for students who may not know when their next meal will be. Monetary and grocery gift cards were also encouraged, administered by the Custer County Foundation. The monetary total by the end of the challenge reached $7,587, which will be distributed between all programs to support future needs.
