High School Cross Country Results – Cozad, Gibbon, Ainsworth

Area teams competed at the Cozad cross country invitational Saturday at the Cozad Country Club. Broken Bow won the boys team title by four points over second place Holdrege. Broken Bow’s Noah Osmond was the boys individual champion with a winning time of 17:40. The Indians placed five runners in the top 20. Brock Oeltjen was 7th (18:32), Trey Hurlburt was 10th (18:44), Tallen Harold placed 16th (18:53), and Colton Kelley came in 20th (19:13). Logan Recoy of South Loup finished in the top five for the Bobcats. Recoy was 4th in a time of 18:15. Sandhills Valley was 3rd in the boys team standings placing two runners in the top 15. Collin Rooney placed 9th (18:44) and Jared Trimble was 11th (18:45). McCook won the girls team title. Sidney placed 2nd and Ogallala was third. The Broken Bow girls team placed fifth in the team standings. Lindee Henning of Ogallala was the girls individual champion in a winning time of 19:29. Broken Bow placed four runners in the top 20 and they all came across the finish line in succession. Makinley Tobey was 16th (24:07), Jacey Osmond was 17th (24:07+), Rylie Wistisen was 18th (24:12), and Jacey Staples placed 19th (24:28). South Loup’s Ivy Tullis paced in the top ten. Tullis was 9th in a time of 22:45. Sandhills Valley also competed in Saturday’s meet and was led by Ali Trimble who was 20th (24:34)

Area teams competed at the Ainsworth cross country invite on September 1st. West Holt won the boys team title with Ord second and North Central third. Tyler Jelinek of West Holt was the boys individual champion in a time of 18:00.86. The top finisher from the KCNI/KBBN coverage area was Kyle Finney of Mullen who was tenth in a time of (19:22.85). Sandhills/Thedford placed two runners in the top 25. Connor Sutton was 21st (20:52.89) and Brodie Stengel was 23rd (22:12.90). Ainsworth won the girls team title with West Holt 2nd and North Central was 3rd. The girls individual champion was Angela Frick of North Central with a winning time of 20:54.06. Peyton Paxton of Mullen was the runner up in a time of 21:09.36. Twin Loup placed two runners in the top 30. Gracie Conrad was 28th (30:02.06) and Miah Handley was 30th (32:00.23)

Area teams competed at the Gibbon cross country invitational September 1st. Franklin was the boys team champion with Bertrand-Loomis 2nd and St. Paul was third. Kyler Carraher of Franklin was the boys individual champion in a winning time of 19:24.57. Ty Greenland of Arcadia/Loup City placed in the top five finishing fifth in a time of 20:26.03. SEM placed two runners in the top 30. Clay Scoville was 27th (23:32.79) and William Beattie was 28th (23:36.12). Ansley/Litchfield was led by Kolten Clay who was 32nd (23:46.69). Ravenna won the girls team title with Amherst 2nd and Shelton 3rd. Matti Lyons of Ravenna was the girls individual champion in a time of 24:44.89. Josie Smith of SEM was a top five finisher placing 5th in a time of 26:10.19. Arcadia/Loup City placed three runners in the top 30. Katie Rosenthal was 22nd (30:38), Kira Bergman was 25th (31:13.35) and Camarha Cox was 30th (32:26.17).
