Area Cowboys and Cowgirls Start High School Rodeo Season in McCook

The Nebraska high school rodeo spring season is underway with the opening rodeo competition of the season taking place in McCook this past weekend.  Some of the area highlights from Saturday’s rodeo performance included Chase Gracey of Mullen winning the tie down roping in a winning time of 14 seconds flat.  Gracie Pearson placed first in the pole bending with a time of 20.802 seconds.

Area highlights from Sunday’s performance included Cayson Johnston of Stapleton winning the tie down roping in a time of 11.65 seconds.  Dawson Doggett of Callaway won the steer wrestling in a time of 8.42 seconds and Haylea Miller of Merna won the girls cutting with a top score of 72.
