Central Nebraska’s Sports Source was invited to a letter of intent signing for Broken Bow senior Zach Miller on Wednesday.  Miller will be joining the Mid Plains Community College rodeo team.  Miller told KCNI/KBBN sports that he will compete in the roping events at the collegiate level.  Miller has been heavily involved in Nebraska high school rodeo and will be competing this upcoming spring for the opportunity to qualify for the National High School Finals Rodeo scheduled for July 14th – 20th in Wyoming.

“I’ll be involved in the calf roping and team roping and hopefully by state I am competing to go to nationals so that’s the goal and hopefully it happens.”

Miller will be attending McCook Community College, a member school of the Mid Plains Community College system.  When it came to choosing McCook and choosing to join the MPCC rodeo program, Miller said his familiarity with the school and program through family helped him know it was the right fit for him.

“When I was younger, like in my sophomore year, I just kind of knew I wanted to go to McCook.  I knew the coaches there because my brothers (Sean and Matt) already went there.  I just like the coaches and like the people they recruit because they are all friends from high school rodeo.  My brother (Matt) he’s helped me.  He didn’t really help me make the decision but he’s there and it’ll be easier on us and we can just load up the horses in the same trailer so we can just go down the road and go to the rodeo.”

Miller is the son of Brad and Stephanie Miller.  Miller said his parents have been instrumental in helping him through his rodeo journey.

“It’s been really good.  Dad’s been kind enough to hall us to every single rodeo and high school sports.  Mom’s always taking pictures of us.  I mean they’ve helped a lot with the horses and the horse power we have.  The opportunities we get is because of our parents and couldn’t do it without them.”
