Area Athletes Compete at Conference Track Championships

Ansley/Litchfield and SEM were among the teams that competed at the Fort Kearny Conference track and field championships hosted by Wilcox/Hildreth on Saturday. Axtell won the boys team championship and Elm Creek won the girls team title.  Among the area highlights, Taryn Arbuthnot of SEM was the conference champion in the girls long jump with a winning effort of 16’9.5″. Arbuthnot cleared the winning height of 4’10” in the girls high jump and finished 2nd overall after the tie break and placed third in the girls 200 meter dash. It was a strong day for Ansley/Litchfield’s Ryan Bailey who was runner up in both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles. Bailey cleared the winning height of 6′ in the boys high jump but on the tie break finished 2nd. Cohen Rohde of SEM was runner up in the boys discus.
Other top three area finishes included:
Ava Paitz (A/L) third in the girls 300 meter hurdles
Christyn Kearney (SEM) third in the girls discus
Kerry Ryan (A/L) third in the girls high jump
Chance Daake (SEM) third in the boys high jump
Isaac O’Brien (A/L) third in the boys 800

Arcadia/Loup City competed at the LouPlatte track championships in Wood River on Friday.  Top three finishes for the Rebels included:
Wyatt Stieb – runner up in boys shot put
Tayler Obermiller – runner up in girls 400 and runner up in girls 800
Chloe Carkoski – third in the girls discus
