The Southwest Conference track and field championships took place Saturday at Minden.  Gothenburg was the boys team champion and McCook won the girls team title.  Broken Bow finished fourth overall in the boys team standings and was 5th in the girls standings less than a point behind Ogallala for fourth and less that two points behind Holdrege for third.

Among the individual highlights for the Indians, Cruze Safranek was the conference champion in the boys 100 with a winning time of 11.02 seconds.  Safranek was runner up in the 200 with a time of 22.71. Broken Bow claimed the top two spots in the boys shot put. Max Denson was the conference champion with a winning effort of 53’8″ and Evan Cyboron was runner up with an effort of 50’5.75″. Maren Chapin was the conference champion in the girls 400 in a winning time of 1:02.19.  Coy Wardyn was runner up in the boys pole vault clearing 13’8″ and Janae Marten of Broken Bow was runner up in the girls shot put with an effort of 37’1.5″.
