23rd Annual D.A.R.E. Golf Tournament on June 6

The 32nd Annual D.A.R.E. Golf Tournament will take place on June 6, 2026.

The tournament helps support the D.A.R.E. program put on by the Custer County Sheriff’s Office and the Broken Bow Police Department.

D.A.R.E. stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education and is a 10-week program in which students in all schools in Custer County learn good decision-making skills to help them lead safe lives. Custer County Sheriff Dan Osmond shared how it has changed over the years and focuses on more than just drugs and alcohol.

“It’s a program that’s focused on how to make safe and responsible decisions. So, we do talk about drugs and what they can do to your body, but there’s also stuff about communication, about stress, peer pressure, and so we go into basically everything that just what it takes to make good decisions and how to communicate those decisions. So, it’s a pretty involved 10 weeks, really,” stated Sheriff Osmond. “Our world’s changed so fast now, you know, so they’ve just done an update to this curriculum to help kind of mold it to more to what kids are seeing and what kind of grabs their attention now.”

The tournament will be at the Broken Bow Golf Course with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. Entry costs $75 per person, and this includes mulligans and lunch. Sheriff Osmond says that they are grateful for the support they have received over the years.

“It is the money-maker for our program, what we use to buy supplies and everything. So, people being willing to donate and give for over 32 years to help keep this going is pretty amazing,” said Sheriff Osmond.
