Opportunities to donate blood locally amid emergency blood shortage

Every single day, hour, and minute blood donations help patients of all ages across the world. According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood and approximately 29,000 unites of red blood cells are needed every day in the U.S.

Seeing as there is no substitute for blood, a shortage is a dire situation.

According to the American Red Cross website, a blood shortage is being experienced right now that sees the nation having the lowest number of people giving blood in 20 years.

Several local blood drives are coming up in the days and weeks ahead, including (but not limited to):
– January 10th in Loup City at the Community Center from 11 am to 5 pm
– January 10th in Stapleton at the Village Hall from 11 am to 5 pm
– January 11th in Sumner at the Community Building from Noon to 6 pm
– January 11th in Kearney at the Ft. Kearney Chapter from Noon to 6 pm
– January 15th in Arnold at the Community Center from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm
– January 15th in Ord at Valley County Health System Foundation from 9 am to 3 pm
– January 17th in Dunning at the school from Noon to 5:30 pm
– January 22nd in Sargent at the Community Center from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm
– January 25th in Broken Bow at Melham Medical Center from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm
