State Cross Country – Area Results

The NSAA state cross country championships took place Friday in Kearney at the Kearney Country Club.

The Broken Bow girls qualified as a team for the Class C state meet.  Broken Bow finished 11th in the girls team standings.  The girls team champion was Kearney Catholic and Auburn was the team runner up.  Broken Bow freshman Ashlyn Schauda led the way for the Lady Indians.  The top 15 medal at state.  Schauda finished just outside the top 15 placing 17th in a time of 21:51.5.  Other results for the Broken Bow girls team included Anette Guevara 71st (23:56.8), MaKinley Tobey 75th (24:05.6), Genesis Guevara 78th (24:14.6), Gaby Staples 87th (24:43.5).  The Class C girls individual champion was Lindee Henning of Ogallala in a winning time of 19:33.9.

In the Class C boys race, Jackson Hansen represented Broken Bow qualifying as an individual.  Hansen finished in the top 40 of the state placing 37th in a time of 18:08.7.  Gothenburg was the Class C team champion.  The Class C boys individual champion was Gus Lampe of Omaha Roncalli in a winning time of 16:33.8.  Tyler Hetz of Gothenburg was 2nd.

In Class D, Mullen finished 5th overall in the girls team standings.  The Lady Broncos were led by Peyton Paxton.  Paxton, a medalist in 2021 and 2022, is now a three time state medalist finishing 5th overall in a time of 20:47.4.  Harper Andersen, Ady Hampton, and Riley Hegland came across the line in succession.  Andersen was 33rd (22:51.5), Hampton was 34th (22:52.1), and Hegland was 35th (22:54.11).

Ella Cool and Ivy Tullis represented South Loup in the Class D girls state championships.  Cool placed in the top 50 finishing 49th in a time of 23:22.5.  Tullis was 91st (24:48.4).  In other area results, Lena Spencer of Burwell finished 55th (23:29.7) and Rilyn Schledewitz of SEM placed 73rd (25:05.5).  The Class D girls individual champion was Katherine Kerrigan of Ainsworth in a winning time of 20:00.2.

In the Class D boys race, South Loup was represented by Logan Recoy and Josiah Coleman.  Recoy placed 40th in a time of 18:44.9 and Coleman placed 82nd (19:49.7).  Kyle Finney of Mullen was a state qualifier and finished 61st overall (19:18.1)  The Class D boys individual champion was Mason McGreer of Perkins County in a time of 16:46.6.
