The 2019 NSAA state cross country championships were held Friday at the Kearney Country Club. The Broken Bow boys team placed 11th in Class C. The Indians were led by Lane Russell who finished 19th overall in a time of 17:34. The Class C boys team title went to Aurora and the individual champion was Carson Noecker of Hartington Newcastle in a winning time of 16:03.
Mullen’s Molly Paxton finished in the top 15 of the Class D girls race. Paxton received a medal finishing 13th overall in a time of 20:35. The Class D girls team title was won by Ainsworth and the individual champion was won by freshman Alayna Vargas of Hastings St. Cecilia. In the Class D boys race, Axtell was the boys team champion and Payton Davis of Aquinas was the gold medalist in a winning time of 16:54. The top area finisher was Trevor Kuncl of Mullen who was 31st overall in a time of 18:11.
