Nebraska High School Rodeo Contestants Compete at Three Rodeos During the Weekend

Nebraska High School Rodeo contestants traveled west this past weekend as three rodeos were held in the panhandle area.  The “Panhandle” rodeo took place on Friday.  Among the area highlights, Cooper Bass of Brewster won the boys cutting with a score of 74 and Dane Pokorny of Stapleton had the fastest time in the steer wrestling at 5.03 seconds.

On Saturday, Harrison was the host for the Nebraska High School rodeo.  Taci Flinn of Arcadia won the barrel racing on Saturday in a time of 17.778 seconds.  Brody McAbee of Ansley continued his strong season in the saddle broncs with a winning ride of 74 on Saturday.  Dane Pokorny of Stapleton again had the top time in the steer wrestling at 5.47 seconds and Jace Hurlburt of Arcadia partnered with Tate Talkington of Scottsbluff to win the team roping in a time of 8.47 seconds.

The final rodeo of the weekend took place in Crawford on Sunday.  Among the area highlights, Emma Pearson of Broken Bow won the girls cutting with a score of 72.  Brody McAbee of Ansley again had the top score in the saddle broncs with a 78 and Coy Johnston of Stapleton won the steer wrestling Sunday in a time of 4.14 seconds.

High school rodeo contestants will now prepare for the state finals June 16-19 with the 1st rodeo performance of the 1st go scheduled for June 17th at 10 a.m. at the Adams County Fairgrounds in Hastings.
