Fall Sports Preview – Twin Loup Volleyball

The Twin Loup volleyball team finished 2022 with a 21-10 overall record.  The Lady Wolves will look to fill some vacant spots left by a large and experienced senior class that has graduated and moved on.  Head coach Tami Phillipps took time to visit with KCNI/KBBN radio about the upcoming season.  As Twin Loup builds their chemistry this season, coach Phillipps said the team has been working on “trust” as they prepare for the season.

“Oh man it was rough at the beginning after some of these have never played before let alone next to the other person like in a serve receive or defense.  It’s just a totally different lineup.  One thing we’ve really wanted to focus on is trust.  Making you trust your back row, trust who you’re up against, trust that you can talk to each other.  That was one of our main focuses at the beginning.  It’s getting there.  It’s going to take some work.  I always tell the girls it’s not how you start the season.  It’s how you end the season.”

Phillips said that one of the keys for the Lady Wolves will be passing.

“If our passing is on.  I feel if we can get the pass up to our setter I think our offense should be able to take care of business.”

Twin Loup is scheduled to open the season Thursday when they play at Stuart.  Twin Loup will be featured on Central Nebraska’s Sports Source August 31st when they compete in a triangular with Anselmo-Merna and Ansley/Litchfield.  September 28th when they compete in a triangular with Sandhills Valley and South Loup and on October 17th when they host Arcadia/Loup City and SEM for a triangular.
