The Broken Bow athletic department hosted a letter of intent signing for Trinity Erickson on Friday.  Erickson has been a part of the Broken Bow cheer squad and has chosen to join the Hastings College cheer program.  Erickson visited with KCNI/KBBN sports and shared what led her to choose Hastings College.

“Coach Jordan sought me out through social media to kind of see what I had to offer and Hastings wasn’t even an option for me until after attending practice with the team and really just kind of feeling like I was home there.”

Erickson talked about what led her to joining the Broken Bow cheerleading program in high school.

“Every little girl loves and looks up to the cheerleaders and I was in dance from when I was pretty little up until my 8th grade year and then in 8th grade the studio that I danced at closed down and I just happened to find out cheer tryouts were happening and I just fell in love with cheer.”

A lot of time and effort goes into being a part of a cheer squad.  Erickson shared what being a part of the Broken Bow cheer squad has meant to her and how the experience has helped prepare her to be a part of a college cheer squad.

“At Broken Bow we put so much effort into our cheer team.  No one really understands how many hours go into making good routines and making sure everything is clean for our crowd and for our competition.  So one of the biggest things I’ve learned from being a cheerleader these past four years is just dedication.  I’ve dedicated like my whole life to cheer.  I live and breathe cheer and that’s one of the biggest things that Broken Bow has taught me.”

While at Hastings College, Erickson plans to study radiography.
