U.S. Representative Adrian Smith Travels The 3rd District With A Stop In Broken Bow

Representative Adrian Smith recently traveled across Central Nebraska, where he met with small business owners, manufacturers, and community leaders to hear firsthand about the issues impacting them and discuss how we can continue working together to keep Nebraska strong.

Broken Bow business leaders met with Smith at the Cobblestone Hotel & Suites meeting room on Thursday, August 20th, to hear Smith’s update and to ask questions about Nebraska economic topics.

Some of the issues discussed were workforce and housing shortages, child care, data centers, high oil costs, and the Iran war. Concerns were heard about high input costs for struggling small businesses and agriculture production.

Smith stressed that the Working Families Tax Cuts are benefiting farmers and small business owners along with employees, and parents.

Smith also highlighted legislation that would allow year-round sales of gasoline containing 15% ethanol. The measure recently passed the House and will now reach the Senate for consideration.

The final question of the day was centered on the U.S deficit which has now crossed the $40 trillion threshold. Smith said he doesn’t believe we can tax our way out of it or cut our way out of it. He believes the solution is a combination of bending the spending curve and growing the economy.

At the conclusion of his trip, Smith said in a post on his website that he enjoys nothing more than returning home to Nebraska, traveling across the Third District, and meeting with constituents in their communities. The congressman said while his work in Washington is important, nothing can replace hearing directly from Nebraskans and seeing firsthand the opportunities and challenges they face.
