Veterans can register for Elks dinners, seminars until Saturday

Veterans in the Broken Bow and Ord areas have until this Saturday, November 7, to register for upcoming veterans dinners and seminars hosted by the Broken Bow Elks Lodge.

The lodge will host two events, beginning Tuesday, November 10, at the BPOE Lodge Room, 610 South 10th Street in Broken Bow. A second event will be held Thursday, November 12, at the American Legion Building in Ord.

Both evenings will begin with social time at 6 PM, followed by a seminar at 6:30 PM. Dinner will be served afterward.

Stan Sedlacek with the Broken Bow Elks Lodge says the seminar is an important part of the evening, giving veterans an opportunity to hear updates from their local Veterans Service Officer, Emory Haynes. Haynes will provide information about changes to veterans’ benefits over the past year or two and will be available to answer questions.

“A lot of people don’t know what has changed for veterans over the years as far as benefits. So consequently, it’s good to have that refresher,” Sedlacek said.

The dinners and seminars are free for veterans, and each veteran may bring one non-veteran guest at no charge. Those attending must choose one location and cannot attend both events.

Reservations are required, and the Elks Lodge cannot accept late registrations. Veterans interested in attending the Broken Bow event can call Barb at 308-870-1264 or Shannon at 308-872-2617.

For the Ord event, call Nancy at 308-872-6192 or Barb at 308-870-1264. Those calling Barb for the Ord event are asked to leave a message.

All reservations must be made on or before Saturday, November 7.
