Area Athletes to Play in All Star Volleyball and Basketball Classic

The New West All Star Classic will showcase Nebraska’s best high school athletes from regional conferences, as they display their talents June 1st and 2nd. The Classic is presented by New West Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery, Misko Sports, Platte River Radio and Casey’s General Store-Minden. The proceeds from the weekend will benefit the Nebraska Kidney Association. The two day event will feature 120 athletes from four regional conferences including the Southwest, Fort Kearney, Lou Platte, and Republican Plains Activity Conference. The volleyball tournament will be played Friday with action beginning at 5pm. Opening round matches will feature the Southwest Conference vs. the Lou Platte Conference and the Fort Kearney Conference vs. the Republican Activity Conference. Kirsten Staab of Broken Bow, Gracie Stieneke of Gothenburg, and Arleigh Costello of Gothenburg will be among those representing the Southwest Conference while Kaylea Rasmussen and Kennedy Lewandowski will be among those representing the Lou Platte All Stars. Erica Eacker of SEM is on the Fort Kearney roster.

The girls and boys basketball games will take place on Saturday with games beginning at noon. The SWC will play the Lou Platte All Stars and the Fort Kearney Conference will play the Republican Plains Activity Conference All Stars. The Southwest Conference girls all star team includes Jory Lowe and Kate Fox of Broken Bow, Gracie Stienike and Arleigh Costello of Gothenburg and Hanna Wright of Cozad. Kennedy Lewandowski of Arcadia/Loup City will be among those representing the Lou Platte Conference and Sara Ripp of SEM is on the Fort Kearney All Star roster. On the boys side, area players for the SWC include Tanner Linn, Kevin Linn, and Mason McMeen of Broken Bow, Trestian Siemering of Cozad, and AJ Whiting of Gothenburg. Nolan Baker and Tige Calleroz of Arcadia/Loup City will play for the Lou Platte Conference and Kevin Boteo of SEM will be among those representing the Fort Kearney Conference. The SWC girls basketball team will be coached by Kelly Cooksley of Broken Bow and the Lou Platte boys team will be coached by Aaron Habe and Aman Miller of Arcadia/Loup City.
