Police Looking for Help in Omaha Kidnapping and Murder Case

OMAHA -- The Omaha Police Department is requesting the assistance of anyone who may have a connection to murder suspect Jeremiah Connelly. According to a news release, the OPD is still in the early stages of its investigation into the disappearance and death of 22-year-old Jeanna Wilcoxen.  The OPD requests that anyone who may have seen or had contact with Connelly or his gray 1987 Chevrolet van reach out to authorities. Connelly was released from prison on June 28th and police believe he has since been in the areas of Omaha, Council Bluffs, Fremont, Columbus and Valley.  His vehicle is described as a gray or silver 1987 Chevrolet G20 van with Nebraska license plate VYX 116. The vehicle was recovered last Monday after the Omaha Fire Department was called to a vehicle fire at 36th and I street. Police say the 39-year-old Connelly was arrested Friday after a foot chase that began when he ran from a stolen car he was driving. Officers say he spoke to them about the death of a woman, and investigators later found the body of Wilcoxen. She'd last been seen Sept. 17.  He'd been serving time in prison for attempted kidnapping, robbery and other crimes before being released. Police say they do not have any indication that there are other victims or encounters involving Connelly but won't rule out the possibility.
