MNAC and SWC basketball tournaments tip today

Basketball teams and their fans from all across central Nebraska have a busy week ahead as conference basketball action is scheduled throughout the next few days. KCNI/KBBN will present video and radio play-by-play of several MNAC and SWC games starting today and going through Saturday. (Brackets included in story below)

MNAC boys action kicks off in Thedford and Callaway today. #3 Twin Loup and #6 Anselmo-Merna open play tonight in Thedford at 5:30 CT, to be followed by #2 Sandhills/Thedford and #7 Arthur County. Those games will be broadcast on 95.3 FM, KBBN.com, and the free KBBN app. In Callaway, #4 Mullen faces #5 Sandhills Valley to open play at 5:30 CT, followed by top seed South Loup and #8 Brady. Those two games will be on 96.3 FM, KCNI1280.com, and the free KCNI app. A video presentation including the radio play-by-play will also be available on the Sandhills Express YouTube and Facebook pages.

Tuesday, girls teams will get into action in the MNAC. On KBBN and Sandhills Express video from Sandhills High School, #4 Twin Loup and #5 Anselmo-Merna open the evening of play at 5:30 CT, followed by #1 Sandhills/Thedford and #8 Sandhills Valley. Brady is hosting the other half of the quarterfinals girls action, with #3 Arthur County and #6 Mullen tipping at 5:30 tonight, followed by #2 Brady and #7 South Loup squaring off.

After Monday and Tueday’s action, all semifinal, 3rd place, and championship games on both MNAC brackets will be broadcast on KBBN radio and Sandhills Express video.

The Broken Bow boys basketball team opens SWC bracket play tonight in Valentine, tipping against familiar foe Valentine. #9 Broken Bow last faced the #8 seed Valentine Badgers on Friday. Their game tonight will tip at 6:00 CT, with the winner advancing to face #1 Ogallala in Ogallala on Tuesday.

The Broken Bow girls basketball team comes into the SWC tournament as the #3 seed, facing #6 Holdrege tomorrow night at 6:00 at home. That game can be heard on KCNI 96.3 FM, KCNI1280.com, and the free KCNI app. The winner will advance to play the victor of the #2 Gothenburg and #7 McCook game, also taking place Tuesday night.
