Ord woman revealed as $1 Million Powerball winner

LINCOLN, Neb.— Roberta Trumbo of Ord has been revealed as the $1 Million Powerball winner who purchased a ticket in Ord at Trotter’s Whoa & Go.

Trumbo’s ticket contained five plays for the April 29 drawing, one of which matched five out of five white balls (03, 19, 35, 51, 67) but not the Powerball (15) for a $1 million win.

The April 29 drawing in particular had 62 $1 million winners across 17 states, which the Lottery described as ‘astounding’. An additional 27 $2 million winning tickets were produced in 12 different states and two winners from Indiana and Kansas will split the $143.4 million jackpot.

The other $1 million Nebraska winner, who purchased their ticket in Omaha, has not claimed their prize yet.

Powerball officials believe the unusually high number of winners may be due to players picking their numbers in a similar way. The winning numbers drawn on April 29 matched the same pattern as a vertical column of numbers on play slips in multiple states.

Trumbo said she’s been playing the same set of numbers for at least the past two years and originally came from a quick pick ticket and always buys her tickets for multiple drawings.

She found out she’d won on the evening of April 30 and said it left her shocked.

“I was kind of shaky getting home,” she said. “I still can’t quite believe it.”
