Custer County 4-Hers aim high at weekend archery match

BROKEN BOW – Eighteen Custer County 4-Hers competed in the 2023 Custer County 4-H Indoor Archery Match this past weekend at the Shooting Sports Building on the Custer County Fairgrounds.

The archers competed across 4 categories: Basic Bow, Bowhunter Freestyle, Freestyle, and Freestyle Limited Recurve. The competitors were also categorized by age: a “Cub” group of 8 to 11-year-olds, a “Youth” group of 12 to 14-year-olds, and a “Young Adult” group of 15 to 18-year-olds.

In the Basic Bow Cub group, Adalynn Johnson won a gold medal and earned a purple ribbon, Weston Delaney earned a silver medal and a blue ribbon, and Brittan Evans took home bronze and a blue ribbon. Bryden Hollander earned a red ribbon.

In the Basic Bow Youth division, Karoline Ogle took home the gold medal and purple ribbon.

In the Bowhunter Freestyle Cub group, Isaak Lorenz won gold and a purple ribbon, Tripp Oxford earned silver and a purple ribbon, and Braytin Johnson earned bronze and a blue ribbon. Brexton Ostrand earned a blue ribbon, and William Delaney earned a red ribbon.

In that Youth division, Dylan Schmidt took home a purple ribbon and a gold medal, and in the Young Adult group, Wyatt Olson won gold and a purple ribbon.

In the Freestyle Cub group, Bo Smith won gold, and Peyton Schmidt won silver. Both took home purple ribbons. In the Young Adult division, Carsen Vincent won gold and a blue ribbon, and Matthew Putman earned a blue ribbon.

In the Freestyle Limited Recurve Youth division, Arianna Johnson won a purple ribbon and a gold medal, and in that competition’s gold medal in the Young Adult division went to Braxton Johnson, who also won a purple ribbon.
