District final volleyball matchups have been announced for classes C1, C2, D1, and D2. The district final winners will advance to the NSAA state championship tournament next week in Lincoln. The district finals will take place on Saturday.
It will be an all area final for the D2-2 district championship as Mullen will host Twin Loup. Mullen is 29-2 and advanced to the district final as the D2-10 sub-district champion. Twin Loup is 14-18 and advanced by claiming the D2-8 sub-district title. The two met earlier this season during the Seven Valleys Tournament with Mullen winning in straight sets. The match will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com. A live video stream of the match, accompanied by the radio call, will be available through the Sandhills Express Facebook Page and Sandhills Express You Tube Channel. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m. central time.
Sandhills/Thedford qualified for the Class D2 district final round as a wildcard. The Lady Knights are 21-9 this season and will travel to face Elba (22-9) for the D2-8 district championship on Saturday. Elba advanced to districts by winning the D2-5 sub-district championship. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m. and will be broadcast on KCNI 1280 AM / 96.3 FM / kcni1280.com.
SEM advanced to the Class D2 district finals as a wildcard. SEM is 17-13 and will face Wilcox-Hildreth (20-11) for the D2-7 district championship. This will mark the fifth time the Fort Kearny Conference rivals have played each other this season. Wilcox-Hildreth has won the four previous matchups including a five-set thriller for the D2-7 sub-district championship earlier this week.
Ansley/Litchfield has qualified for the Class D1 district final round. This marks the third straight district final appearance for the Lady Spartans. Ansley/Litchfield is 21-9 and will travel to DeWitt, NE on Saturday to face Tri-County for the D1-5 district championship.
