High School Football Scores – Area Recap 10/9

Broken Bow hosted Class C1 top ten ranked Adams Central for its final home game of the season Friday night at Mark Russell Field.  Broken Bow trailed 27-6 at halftime.  The top highlight for Broken Bow in the first half came when Braxton Eggleston returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown to put the Indians on the board.  Broken Bow received the kickoff to start the second half and put together a 92 yard touchdown drive which took over nine minutes off the clock and was capped off by a 13 yard touchdown pass from Cash Kleeb to Adrian Gibbons to make the score 27-12.  On the ensuing possession, the Broken Bow defense came up with a big play as Zach Jackson returned an interception for a touchdown to make the score 27-18.  After Adams Central extended the lead to 34-18, Broken Bow fought back again as quarterback Cooper White turned a scramble into a 41 yard touchdown run with 7:32 left in the game to make it a one possession game following a successful two point conversion.  That would be as close as Broken Bow would get as the Patriots added a late touchdown and the Adams Central defense held down the stretch to secure a 41-26 win.  Broken Bow will travel to O’Neill next Friday.  O’Neill is now 4-3 after falling to undefeated Pierce 14-7.

In the area game broadcast on KBBN radio Friday, Brady remained unbeaten with a 64-14 win over Sandhills/Thedford.  Brady’s Cinch Sanger scored on touchdown runs of 6, 26, and 14 yards and had two touchdown passes including a 49 yard TD pass to Brody Telitz.  Andrew Karchner finished with a rushing touchdown, a receiving touchdown, and a scoop and score on defense and Payton Miller had two touchdown runs including a 71 yard TD run for the victorious Eagles.  Caleb Clark had a 10 yard touchdown run and a 20 yard touchdown pass to Mason Cooksley for Sandhills/Thedford.  Brady travels to Anselmo-Merna next Friday with the district title on line.  The Coyotes are now 5-2 overall and undefeated in district play.  Sandhills/Thedford will host Maxwell next.
