In area high school football Thursday night, the Arcadia/Loup City Rebels collected their first win of the season by holding off Hastings St. Cecilia 32-14. The Rebels scored on their opening possession of the game when Bennett Rademacher scored on a three yard touchdown run to make the score 8-0. The score stayed that way until Hudson Obermiller scored on a 16 yard touchdown run to increase the ALC lead to 16-0. After St. Cecilia scored to make it 16-6, Isaac Fitzgerald scored on a 9 yard touchdown run in the final minute of the second quarter to make the score 24-6 at halftime. Hastings St. Cecilia closed the gap to 24-14 in the third quarter but Isaac Fitzgerald collected his second rushing touchdown of the night with 7:39 remaining in the game to seal the victory and put ALC in the win column for the first time this season.
The Broken Bow volleyball team traveled to Ogallala for a triangular with Ogallala and Minden on Thursday night. In Broken Bow’s first match of the evening, the Lady Indians fell to Minden 25-17, 26-24. Broken Bow led 23-16 in set #2 but Minden was able to come back and take the match in straight sets. In the final match of the night, it was a battle of Indians between Ogallala and Broken Bow. Ogallala held on to win the first set 25-19 and then closed out the match winning 25-8 in the second set. In the other match of the night, Ogallala defeated Minden in straight sets 25-13, 25-22.
