Brandon J. Fewkes, age 40 of Merna, was in Custer County District Court on Thursday, July 2nd for sentencing in his criminal case. After a plea agreement was reached with the State in May of this year, Fewkes pleaded no contest and was found guilty of two misdemeanors, child abuse and disturbing the peace. Prior to the plea agreement, Fewkes had pleaded not guilty to felony charges of terroristic threats, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and child abuse, all stemming from a February 2025 incident. On Thursday, Judge Karin Noakes sentenced Fewkes to two years probation on the charge of child abuse and two years probation for disturbing the peace, to be served concurrently. He was also ordered to continue counseling, attend a victim sympathy class, and participate in a domestic violence intervention program.
