Anselmo-Merna hosted its track and field meet on Tuesday in Merna. Teams competing included Anselmo-Merna, Twin Loup, Brady, CWC, Sandhills/Thedford and Ord. Anselmo-Merna was the boys team champion with 144 points followed by Twin Loup in second with 119 points. Brady was the girls team champion with 96.5 points and Anselmo-Merna was runner-up with 86.5 points.
Among the individual highlights, Connor Sutton of Sandhills/Thedford was a double gold medalist winning both the boys 800 (2:08.35) and 1600 (4:54.19). Trevor Duryea of Anselmo-Merna placed first in both the boys long jump (20′ 3.25″) and triple jump (45′ 6″). Colin Wright of Anselmo-Merna won both the boys 100 (11.53) and 200 (23.69). Shayleigh Coleman of Anselmo-Merna swept the girls hurdles winning the 100 meter hurdles (18.92) and 300 meter hurdles (52.46). Payton Stienike of Brady won both the girls 100 (13.71) and 200 (28.49). Lexi Plugge of CWC claimed two individual golds winning the girls 400 (1:06.18) and the girls long jump (13′ 9.5″).
