UNK hosted its annual Class D Indoor High School track Invite on Thursday. Area teams competing included Ansley/Litchfield, Twin Loup, Anselmo-Merna, SEM, and Sandhills/Thedford.
Among the area highlights, Taryn Arbuthnot of SEM was champion in the girls long jump with a winning effort of 17′ 3″ and was runner up in the girls high jump clearing 5′ 4″. Anselmo-Merna finished first and second in the boys high jump. The event was won by Destrey White with a winning effort of 6’2″ and Colin Wright was second clearing 6′. Trevor Duryea of Anselmo-Merna was the boys triple jump champion with a winning effort of 44′ 5.5″. Connor Sutton of Sandhills/Thedford won the boys 1600 meters in a time of 5:00.45 and also took first in the boys 800 in a time of 2:06.77.
Among other area highlights, Blake Bottorf of Twin Loup was runner-up in the boys shot put with an effort of 44′ 2″. Colin Wright of Anselmo-Merna was second in the boys 60 meter dash.
