Burwell Wins Burwell Wrestling Invite

Burwell hosted its annual wrestling invitational on Friday. Burwell won the team title with 187.5 points. Burwell claimed three individual championships and had four runner up finishes. Champions for the Longhorns included Michael Hunter at 106 lbs., Brody Jensen at 132, and Drew Dawe at 138. Runner up finishes for Burwell included Cort Buss at 150 lbs., Kolton Thoene at 157, Trentin Brown at 165, and Kason Larson at 190.

Other area highlights included Cazen Smith of Twin Loup winning the 157 lb. championship by a 4-2 decision over Thoene of Burwell. Twin Loup picked up fourth place finishes from Oran Grint at 165 and Blake Bottorf at 190. Wyatt Stieb of Arcadia/Loup City won the championship at 215 lbs., Joseph Ducker was runner up at 175 lbs., and Hudson Obermiller was third at 144 for the Rebels.  Owen Brott of Ansley/Litchfield was runner up at 144 lbs. and Paxton Bierman of South Loup was fourth at 175 lbs.
