Local Sports Calendar 10/16 – ALC vs South Loup Football on KBBN

This week marks the final week of the regular season for eight man football in Classes D1 and D2.  In D1, Arcadia/Loup City and South Loup will conclude the regular season against one another tonight in Loup City.  ALC enters at 6-1 while South Loup enters with a record of 2-5.  Tonight’s game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com.  Coverage begins with the Consolidated pregame show at 6 p.m. with the kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.

In D2, Sandhills/Thedford will close out the regular season tonight when they go on the road to face Hyannis.  The Knights started the season 1-2 in non district play but are undefeated in district play winning four in a row.

The MNAC volleyball tournament begins today with opening round games at Sandhills High School in Dunning and in Brady.  Games at Dunning begin with Anselmo-Merna vs Arthur County at 4 p.m. followed by Sandhills/Thedford vs Twin Loup.  Games at Brady include Mullen vs South Loup at 4 p.m. followed by Brady vs Sandhills Valley.  Matches from Dunning will be broadcast on KCNI radio and video streamed through Sandhills Express.

The Fort Kearny Conference volleyball tournament concludes today at Kearney High School.  Ansley/Litchfield will face SEM in the third place consolation match at 6 p.m. followed by Amherst vs. Overton in the championship match at 7:30.

In other area volleyball action scheduled for today, Broken Bow will host Kearney Catholic at the Indian gym and Arcadia/Loup City will play in the consolation bracket of the Lou Platte Conference Tournament.

District cross country continues today for classes B and D.  Burwell, Sandhills/Thedford, and Twin Loup will be among the teams competing at the D-3 district at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course.  Ansley/Litchfield, Arcadia/Loup City, South Loup, and SEM will compete at the D-5 district at Cross Creek Golf Links in Cambridge.  Mullen and Sandhills Valley will be among the teams competing at the D-6 district at Pheasant Run Golf Course in Grant.  The 2025 NSAA state cross country championships are scheduled for October 24th at the Kearney Country Club.
