The Bow Spirit 18U softball team was busy over the weekend.
The Spirit faced Central Select-Heat Blue 18U on Friday. Central collected a 9-0 win. The Spirit was held to just three hits in the game. Ida Bumgarner was 2 for 2 and Caeden Arnold finished 1 for 2.
The Spirit played two games on Saturday. The day began by falling to WNS Wildfire 18U 8-2. The Wildfire jumped out quickly with a six run first inning. The Spirit scored a run in he fourth and a run in the fifth inning. Ida Bumgarner and Caeden Arnold each drove in a run. The Spirit would then face NE Quakes Gold Fessler 18U. Bow scored a run in each of the first two innings to take an early lead but the Quakes used a seven run fourth inning to pull away for a 10-2 win. Alexis Pflaster and Anslee Campbell were each 1 for 2 with a run scored and Skylar Smith was 1 for 2 with 1 RBI.
On Sunday, the Spirit began the day with a 13-6 win over Alliance Aftershock 16U. The Spirit offense set the tone early with seven runs in the top of the first. Bailey Hawkins was 1 for 2 with a triple and 3 RBI. Skylar Smith was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Lily Thornton was 2 for 2 with 3 runs scored and an RBI. Ida Bumgarner was 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored and Alexis Pflaster was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored. The Spirit then faced WNS Wildfire 18U for the second time during the weekend. Wildfire jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings and led 7-3 after four. Bow scored three runs in the top of the fifth but the Wildfire was able to hang on for a 7-6 win. Ida Bumgarner had a multi-hit game going 2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Anslee Campbell and Skylar Smith each drove in two runs.
The Spirit are now 5-10 on the season.
