Broken Bow Track to Compete at B-5 District Meet in Aurora Today – Updates on KBBN

Broken Bow will be among the teams competing at the B-5 district track and field championships today in Aurora.  Joining Broken Bow in today’s meet will be Adams Central, Aurora, Central City, Hastings, Holdrege, Lexington, Minden, Northwest, and York.

Athletes will attempt to qualify for the NSAA state track and field championships next week in Omaha.  The top three places in all individual running events will qualify for state plus the next six fastest times of the non qualifiers across all six Class B districts.  The top two places in all relays will automatically qualify plus the next four fastest times of the non qualifiers across all districts.

In the field events, the top three places in the long jump, triple jump, shot put, and discus will qualify for state plus the next six best performances of the non qualifiers across all six Class B districts.  In the pole vault and high jump, the top three places will automatically qualify plus all who equal or exceed the additional qualifier mark that has been established for this year’s state meet.  The automatic qualifying mark is 10′ 8″ in the Class B girls pole vault and 13′ 6″ in the Class B boys pole vault.  The automatic qualifying mark in the Class B girls high jump is 5′ 1″ and 6′ 1″  in the boys high jump.  In the pole vault, competitors must meet the minimum qualifying standard regardless of place.  The minimum qualifying height in the girls pole vault is 6′ 6″ and 9′ 6″ in the boys pole vault.
