The opening round of the MNAC volleyball tournament was played Thursday. In opening round matches at Brady, Sandhills/Thedford advanced to the semifinals with a straight set win over Arthur County (25-12, 25-23, 25-12). The Lady Knights will face top seed Brady in the semis. Brady def. South Loup in straight sets (25-23, 25-9, 25-20). In opening round matches played at Anselmo-Merna, Mullen advanced to the semifinals with a straight set win over Twin Loup (25-13, 25-11, 25-21). The Lady Broncos will face Anselmo-Merna in the semis. AM def. Sandhills Valley 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 25-15, 25-14). The final day of the MNAC tournament will take place Saturday at Broken Bow high school beginning with consolation matches at 10 a.m. followed by the semifinals at 1 p.m. Final day coverage of the tournament can be heard on KCNI/KBBN radio beginning with the semifinals Saturday afternoon. A live video stream of the semis, 3rd place consolation, and championship match can be seen on Sandhills Express Facebook and You Tube.
