Broken Bow and the Custer County Fairgrounds hosted the Mid States Rodeo Association Finals this past weekend. The KCNI/KBBN coverage area was represented well at the finals with a handful of area cowboys and cowgirls finishing at the top of their event in the year end standings. Among the area highlights, Jeff Johnston of Thedford was the 2024 Men’s All Around champion. Johnston finished atop the standings for team roping (heading). Rusty Kluender of Arcadia finished atop the year end standings in the 45 & over tie down roping. The bull riding saw two Arcadia cowboys claim the top two spots. Jason Kursave was the year end champion followed by Cooper Kursave in second. Cord Hesseltine of Arnold finished third in the steer wrestling standings. Patrick Martin of Lexington was runner up in the tie down roping.
Brittni Bradley of Mullen was the Women’s All Around champion. Bradley was second overall in the ladies breakaway roping year end standings. Ginalee Sinner of Sargent was third in the women’s all around standings and finished third in barrel racing. Jace Hurlburt of Arcadia finished atop the women’s rookie standings for the season followed by Makayla Wray of Ord.
