The Broken Bow athletic booster club will host their annual fall sports kickoff event on Tuesday August 27th. The event will take place at Kinkaider Brewing Co. in Broken Bow. KCNI/KBBN radio will serve as the emcee of the event and will be visiting with players and coaches of all Broken Bow fall sports teams. The event is open to the public and all are welcome to meet and support this year’s fall sports athletes. Broken Bow athletic booster club member Brent Kirkpatrick visited with KCNI/KBBN this week about this year’s event.
“Look forward to get to hear from all the kids. I think it get’s pretty entertaining sometimes. The coaches do a good job getting them prepared for it. We’ll have meals available. We’ll have a meal deal for $9. If you want a drink it will be $12 for the whole package. Extra sandwiches will be available for $5 a piece. 6:30 will be the start time. We’ll also be auctioning off the football suites as well so people who want to take advantage of that. That’s a great time to stop out and support the kids.”
There are two suites available for each home football game this year. Home games include Ogallala (9/6), Cozad (9/27), Minden (10/11 / Homecoming), Central City (10/18). Kirkpatrick said the booster club could not accomplish anything without the support of their donors.
“We try to help out as much as we possibly can and we can only do that because of our donors. Number one we need to say thanks to all of them. Every year we have an “Indian Nation” banquet later on. We kind of moved that to February and I think we’re going to continue with that but our donors are huge and we could not do that without any of the donors and local businesses that step up.”
The fall sports kickoff event will begin with the boys and girls cross country teams at 6:30 followed by girls golf, then volleyball, and conclude with the football team. The event will be broadcast live on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com.
