The Broken Bow American Legion juniors baseball team saw its season come to an end Monday when they fell to Minden in an elimination game at the Area 6 tournament in Minden. Minden jumped out to a 9-1 lead after three innings. Broken Bow scored a run in the top of the fifth when Colton Uhlig led off the inning with a base hit and was later driven in by Kayden Record on a ground out. That sent the game to the bottom of the fifth where Minden was able to score the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Beau Bonifas to win 10-2 on the eight run rule after five.
The Bow juniors finished with two runs on three hits and committed three errors. Caenyn Priest and Kanzas Kellum each collected a base hit for Broken Bow which concludes its season at 10-15 overall.
Minden advances to the championship round of the area tournament where they will face York who eliminated Cozad 17-2. York is still undefeated in the double elimination tournament and needs just one more win to advance to the state tournament. Minden will have to defeat York twice on Tuesday to claim the title.
