The Broken Bow American Legion Juniors and Seniors baseball teams opened their season Sunday hosting Bermis (Bertrand / Loomis) in a juniors and seniors doubleheader at Paul Brown Field. The teams worked through and around rain showers to complete their season openers.
The Bow seniors closed out their game early scoring eight runs in the first inning followed by six runs in the second on their way to a 14-0 victory. Eli Coble, Brice Chaplin, and Kayden Record all had multi hit games for the Bow seniors. Coble was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. Chaplin went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored and Record finished 2 for 2 with 2 RBI and 1 run scored. The high offensive output was backed up by a strong pitching performance from Max Denson who pitched a one hit shutout and struck out five in the two inning affair.
Bermis won the juniors game 8-1. Broken Bow led early 1-0 after the first inning but Bermis tied the game with a run in the third then added two runs in the fourth, two runs in the fifth, and three more in the sixth to pull away for the win. Dominic Nowak collected Bow’s only two hits of the game and came around to score their lone run.
Both teams will next be in action on May 22 when they host Overton for a doubleheader at Paul Brown Field. The seniors game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM.
