Ansley/Litchfield Falls to Plainview at State Tournament

The Ansley/Litchfield boys basketball team saw its season come to a close Thursday night as they fell to Plainview in the state quarterfinals at the NSAA boys state basketball championships in Lincoln. Ansley/Litchfield led 18-16 at the half but Plainview outscored the Spartans 17-10 in the third quarter to take a five point lead into the 4th. It was a deficit that Ansley/Litchfield could not overcome as Plainview held on for a 47-43 win. The Spartans had three players finish with 12 points to lead the team. Luke Bailey finished with 12 but was held to just three points total in the second half. Zach Loy scored 8 of his 12 in the third quarter and Jacob Heapy scored all 12 of his points in the fourth quarter. The Spartans conclude the season at 20-4 overall.

Plainview moves on to the Class D1 state semifinals where they will face defending state champion and undefeated Johnson Brock. Ainsworth will face GACC in the other D1 semifinal. Ainsworth was led by Trey Appelt who scored a game high 21 points in a 62-55 win over Dundy County Stratton. GACC’s Myles Dinslage scored in the final two seconds of regulation to knock off the top seed North Platte St. Pat’s 42-40.
