The Sandhills/Thedford girls basketball team will begin play today in the Class D2 girls state basketball tournament in Lincoln. The Lady Knights will be making their 8th appearance at state as a co-op with their last appearance coming in 2018. Sandhills/Thedford has had an outstanding season highlighted by winning the MNAC tournament championship and claiming the D2-5 district championship to qualify for state. S/T is 21-4 this season and has been led by Dayle Haake who leads the team in scoring averaging close to 17 points per game and also leads the team in rebounding at 10 per game. The Lady Knights are the #5 seed in the D2 tournament and will face the #4 seed Howells-Dodge. The Jaguars are 13-10 this season but have played, arguably, the toughest schedule of any team in Class D2 as seven of their ten losses have come to teams who will be playing this week in the state tournament. Today’s game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com. Tipoff is scheduled for 10:45 this morning at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln. Other D2 games today include (#1) Overton vs (#8) Paxton, (#2) Falls City Sacred Heart vs (#7) Humphrey St. Francis, and (#3) Wynot vs (#6) Plainview.
