Ansley/Litchfield and South Loup advanced to the finals of the D1-11 sub district boys basketball tournament.  Top seed Ansley/Litchfield held off Twin Loup Tuesday night 68-52 to advance.  The Spartans had four players finish in double figures led by Luke Bailey who had a game high 27 points.  Jacob Heapy had 14 for A/L while Ryan Bailey and Zach Loy each finished with 10.  Twin Loup was led by Quincy Ryker who had a team high 21 points.  Ansley/Litchfield improves to 19-3 on the season and will advance to face South Loup for the D1-11 sub district title.  South Loup, the #2 seed, held on against Sandhills Valley to advance.  South Loup held Sandhills Valley to just 8 points in the first half as they led 27-8 at halftime.  The Mavericks fought back scoring 31 points in the second half but the first half deficit was too much to overcome as South Loup collected the win 53-39 to improve to 16-4 on the season.  Cache Gracey and Trey Connell led South Loup in scoring with 14 points each.  Leyton Connell of Sandhills Valley led all scorers with a game high 17.  The D1-11 sub district championship game will take place Thursday in Ansley tipping off at 7 p.m.  The game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com.  A live video stream of the game, accompanied by the radio call, will be available through sandhillsexpress.com on the Sandhills Express Facebook page and the Sandhills Express You Tube channel.

In other area sub district action, Sandhills/Thedford and Anselmo-Merna advanced to the finals of the D2-9 sub district tournament.  S/T defeated Brady 55-50 and Anselmo-Merna knocked off Mullen 47-37.  The D2-9 final will take place at Thedford Thursday night tipping off at 6 p.m.

At the D2-7 sub in Shelton, SEM knocked off the #2 seed Elm Creek 50-41 to advance to the sub district final where they will face top seed Shelton who defeated Silver Lake 63-50.

At the C2-10 sub district tournament in Grand Island, top seed GICC defeated Arcadia/Loup City 62-30.  GICC will face Hastings St. Cecilia on Thursday.  St. Cecilia defeated Ravenna 63-37.

Cozad and Gothenburg went to overtime at the C1-11 sub district tournament at Ogallala.  Cozad would win 57-55.  The Haymakers advance to the sub district championship where they will face top seed Ogallala who defeated Chase County 82-46.
