The Broken Bow girls basketball team claimed third place at the Southwest Conference basketball tournament on Saturday at North Platte Community College. Broken Bow came back to knock off Ainsworth in the girls 3rd place consolation game. Ainsworth connected on five 3’s in the first half and led 35-32 at halftime. Broken Bow got a big second half out of MaKinley Tobey and Halle McCaslin. The two combined for 16 of Broken Bow’s 18 fourth quarter points as the Lady Indians pulled away late for a 69-59 victory. Tobey finished with a team high 21 points and McCaslin finished with 16. Gaby Staples also scored in double figures with 11. Broken Bow improves to 14-3 on the season. Minden claimed the girls SWC tournament title. The Lady Whippets defeated Gothenburg in the championship game 57-43.
Ogallala claimed the SWC boys tournament title. Ogallala defeated Cozad in the championship 62-52. Gothenburg defeated Holdrege in the boys consolation game 62-37.
