The Broken Bow Indians collected their first football playoff win since 2013 Friday night as they held on to defeat Douglas County West 28-20 at Mark Russell Field.  Bow scored on the opening drive of the game marching 78 yards scoring on a 7 yard touchdown run by Brice Chaplin to go up 7-0.  DC West would answer with 3:37 left in the first quarter to tie the game at 7-7.  The Falcons took the lead on an 86 yard touchdown run by Brady Singer with 7:45 left in the 2nd quarter but Broken Bow was able to answer right back marching 68 yards and scoring on a 2 yard touchdown run by Brice Chaplin with under a minute remaining in the 2nd quarter to tie the game 14-14 at half.  Broken Bow retook the lead 21-14 with 1:10 remaining in the third quarter when Eli Coble scored on a 7 yard touchdown run.  DC West would answer with 8:59 left in the 4th quarter when Michael Croom scored on a 24 yard touchdown run.  However, the point after attempt was blocked and Broken Bow remained in front 21-20.  The Indians would then put together a time consuming drive that worked the clock down to 1:09 left in the game when Eli Coble scored from 1 yard out to make the score 28-20.  But the game wasn’t over.  DC West was able to get inside the Broken Bow 15 yard line with under a minute to play but was held on 4th down and 10 by the Broken Bow defense as the Indians advance into the state quarterfinal round.  Broken Bow will travel to face top seed Wahoo on November 3rd.  Wahoo shutout Columbus Scotus Friday 46-0.

South Loup advanced into the quarterfinal round of the D2 football playoffs with an impressive 62-12 win over Lawrence Nelson.  Quarterback Trey Connell had a touchdown pass to Cache Gracey and had four rushing TD’s as well as 2 interceptions on defense.  Conner Paulsen and Paxton Bierman each had a rushing touchdown for the Bobcats and Dylan Pandorf had a touchdown pass and AJ Starr a touchdown catch to account for the South Loup scoring.  The Bobcats remain unbeaten and will face Central Valley in the quarterfinals.  Central Valley advanced with a 46-6 win over BDS.
