The Broken Bow volleyball team placed 3rd at the Southwest Conference volleyball tournament in Valentine on Friday. Broken Bow edged Holdrege in the quarterfinals 2-1. Broken Bow took set one 25-14. Holdrege tied the match winning a tight second set 25-23 but Broken Bow prevailed in the third 25-18. Halle McCaslin had 14 kills in the match. She was complimented by Olivia Neely who had 7 kills and Addison Ellis had 6.
Broken Bow faced undefeated and #1 ranked Minden in the semifinals. Minden won the opening set 25-14 and came back from an early deficit to claim the second set 25-19. Halle McCaslin and Addison Ellis each had 6 kills.
It was a battle of the Indians in the 3rd place consolation match as Broken Bow faced off against Ogallala. Broken Bow collected their 20th win of the season with a straight set win 25-22, 25-23. Halle McCaslin had a team high 11 kills and Addison Ellis had nine.
Broken Bow will compete at the C1-10 sub district tournament in Minden on Monday. The Lady Indians will face Kearney Catholic at 6 p.m. The match will be broadcast on KCNI 96.3 FM and kcni1280.com.
The SWC tournament was won by Minden. Minden defeated Gothenburg in the championship 2-1 to remain unbeaten. Scores went 22-25, 25-19, 25-23. It was just Gothenburg’s second loss of the season. Both losses have been to Minden.
