The Mid Nebraska Activities Conference volleyball tournament begins today with opening round matches in Dunning and Merna. In Dunning, #4 seed Brady faces #5 seed South Loup in the opening match at 4 p.m. central time. Following that, top seed Sandhills/Thedford faces Sandhills Valley. In Merna, #3 seed Twin Loup faces #6 seed Arthur County at 4 p.m. central followed by #2 seed Anselmo-Merna vs Mullen. Opening round matches from Merna will be broadcast on KCNI 1280 AM / 96.3 FM and kcni1280.com. A live video stream, accompanied by the radio call, will also be available through sandhillsexpress.com on the Sandhills Express Facebook page and You Tube channel. Semifinals, consolation matches, and championship match will take place Saturday at North Platte Community College. Also on the local sports calendar today, SEM will face Overton in the finals of the Fort Kearny Conference tournament at Kearney High School. In other area volleyball action, Broken Bow will host Kearney Catholic at the Indian gym. Broken Bow is now 16-10 on the season. Kearney Catholic is top ten ranked and enters at 23-2 on the season.
Arcadia Loup City will host Nebraska Christian tonight for their football regular season finale. The Rebels are 1-6 on the season while Nebraska Christian enters at 2-5. Tonight’s game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and on kbbn.com. In other area football action tonight, Sandhills/Thedford (6-1) will host Mullen (5-2).
