1973 Ansley Volleyball Team to be Honored with Hall of Fame Induction – Coach Pat Hoblyn Visits with KBBN About the Honor

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Ansley winning the 1973 Class C Nebraska state volleyball championship. The ’73 championship team will be honored this weekend with induction into the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame as this year’s Golden Anniversary Team. Ansley went undefeated and finished 19-0 in that championship season.

Ansley’s run through the tournament included victories over Kearney Catholic (15-8, 15-7) in the quarterfinals, Mead in the semifinals (15-11, 16-18, 15-9), and Sutherland in the championship (15-8, 3-15, 15-8).

The team will officially be inducted on Sunday (10/8) in ceremonies at Lincoln East High School.

Ansley’s head coach in 1973 was a first year head coach Pat Hoblyn who herself was inducted into the hall of fame in 2016.

Hoblyn took time to visit with KCNI/KBBN sports about the ’73 team.  Our full interview with coach Hoblyn is posted below.
