Thursday was the final day of competition for classes A and B at the NSAA state track and field championships.
Broken Bow was among the teams competing in the Class B competition. Among the Broken Bow highlights, Max Denson collected his second state medal of this year’s meet. After placing 5th in the boys shot put Wednesday, Denson placed 4th in the boys discus on Thursday. Denson qualified for the finals with a season best 150′ 3″ and then bettered that going 155′ 1″ on his first attempt of the finals to receive the 4th place medal.
Coy Wardyn finished in a tie for third in the Class B boys pole vault. Wardyn entered the competition at 13′ 6″. Wardyn cleared the height on his final attempt to advance to a height of 14′ which he cleared on his second attempt before going out of the competition at 14′ 6″. Finishing in a tie for third with Wardyn was Boston Irish of Cozad who also cleared 14′. Jake Burge of Gothenburg medaled in 7th place in the pole vault clearing 13′ 6″.
Noah Osmond of Broken Bow competed in the class B boys 1600 Thursday. Osmond finished with the 16th best time at the state meet at 4:37.3.
In other area notes, Aubrey O’Hare of Gothenburg was a two time medalist on Thursday. O’Hare placed fifth in the Class B girls 100 meter hurdles in a time of 15.61 seconds and also placed 5th in the 300 meter hurdles in a time of 45.95 seconds. Just in front of O’Hare in the event was Karyn Burkholder of Cozad who placed 4th in a time of 45.68. Gothenburg placed 8th in the girls 4×400 meter relay and also placed 8th in the boys 4×400 meter relay.
