Western Nebraska under severe thunderstorm watch

The National Weather Service has issued its first watch of the day that includes Nebraska ahead of anticipated severe weather.

Much of western Nebraska is included in the watch that expires at 10:00p.m. CDT/9:00 p.m. MDT.

The National Weather Service says tornadoes are possible with these storms. Hail up to the size of tennis balls and scattered wind gusts up to 80 miles per hour are possible. For reference, those wind speeds are equivalent to a category 1 hurricane.
