Lincoln police are looking for vandals who damaged a pickup truck and drove it into Holmes Lake.
Officers found the submerged truck at 8:20 a.m. Monday in the lake at 6301 Normal Blvd. No one was inside.
Officials said the truck was stolen from the 9400 block of Southern Sky Road — about six miles away from Holmes Lake — and was taken because the truck's doors were unlocked with the keys in the center console.
The thieves drove the pickup into yards, mailboxes and trees while slashing tires of other vehicles, causing more than $30,000 in damage. The pickup truck hit a Nebraska State Patrol cruiser in the 3000 block of South 79th Street, near Lux Middle School, causing $5,000 in damage.
