Paula De Laune was working at a convenience store when she felt the place shake as a small earthquake hit near a tiny central Nebraska town for the second day in a row.
Tuesday's quake was a little bigger than Monday's. Both originated near Arnold, about 40 miles northeast of North Platte.
"Stuff was rattling,'' she said
A federal earthquake agency confirmed that it hit at 6:41 a.m. with a magnitude of 3.7.
De Laune works at the Arnold Exchange, a convenience store and diner where she said cups and plates rattled, and the building felt like it was shaking.
"It was scary,'' she said.
On Monday, a 3.3-magnitude quake hit about 4:30 a.m., originating near the same spot .
Emergency officials with Custer County said there were no reports of injuries or damage from either quake.
Don Blakeman of the Colorado-based United States Geological Survey said it's not unusual for quakes to hit in the same area on consecutive days and there is no cause for concern for Nebraska communities affected by this week's shakes.
