Sex offender found guilty of sexually assaulting Springfield teen
Codi J. Verratti
A registered sex offender was found guilty after pleading no contest Tuesday in Sarpy County District Court to the first-degree sexual assault of a 14-year-old Springfield, Nebraska, girl. Codi J. Verratti, 26, of Ralston, was arrested July 31 and charged with one count of felony first-degree sexual assault of a child. He faces up to 50 years in prison when he is sentenced July 18 by Judge Stefanie Martinez. The girl knew Verratti because he was a family friend, a Sarpy County Sheriff's Office spokesman said. Verratti was convicted of misdemeanor sexual assault involving a minor in 2014 in New Hampshire and was required to register as a sex offender. In October, Verratti was charged in Douglas County with violating the Nebraska Sex Offender Registration Act, a felony. He has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial.
