Ralston’s 4th of July parade, fireworks are back

Nebraska’s largest 4th of July parade is coming back.

Forced to the COVID-19 sidelines last year, the Ralston Independence Day Celebration, complete with fireworks will make its 60th annual appearance this summer.

On Sunday, July 4th the daytime parade and evening fireworks display will be joined by a fun run and fire department water fight.

Due to ongoing health concerns some other activities have been scratched but are expected to return in 2022.

City officials tell us that this year’s parade comes after more and more vaccinations and follows guidance from the Douglas County Health Department and the CDC.

The parade traditionally draws some 42,000 people to the town of 7,000 just outside Omaha.
