Health officials in the Panhandle continue to update residents about the latest COVID-19 information.
Panhandle Public Health District (PPHD) announced 38 new cases of the virus over the past week. Banner, Garden, Grant and Sioux counties each reported zero new cases. Cheyenne and Dawes counties each confirmed just one new case since May 17.
Deuel County reported the most new cases in the past week with eight.
PPHD reported no new deaths during Monday’s briefing.
Health officials say just over 36 percent of everyone 16 and older in the Panhandle are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Statewide, about 54 percent of all people in the same age group are fully inoculated.
The Panhandle’s COVID-19 risk dial moved back to the border between the green, low risk level and yellow, moderate risk level.
Also Monday, Nebraska governor Pete Ricketts announced several of his pandemic-related executive orders will expire on Tuesday, June 1.
