One person in custody after Norfolk shooting

NORFOLK, Neb. — One person is in custody after two teenagers were shot in Norfolk on Friday.

According to a press release issued Monday morning, Norfolk Police were called to 118 E. Phillip just before midnight Friday evening. Once on the scene, they discovered a 17-year-old male and a 14-year-old male had been shot. Both victims were transported to Faith Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victims and other witnesses at the scene identified the shooter as 20-year-old Mark A. Arias of Norfolk.

Officers located Arias at his residence in the 600 block of Spruce and arrested his for first-degree assault. 

The Nebraska State Patrol assisted with the response to the shooting and search for Arias.

Arias was housed in the Norfolk City Jail and later transferred to the Madison County Jail.
